WE RUN FOR THE CAUSE
In 2006, the Freedom 5K committee established the Milton Track and Cross Country Remembrance Scholarship. Awarded to an outstanding senior member of the Milton High School track and/or cross country team, the scholarship honors the dedication and unselfishness of our community volunteers.
Mission: Milton's Freedom 5K seeks to provide the greater Milton community with a fun, laid back race that promotes not only the physical benefits of running, but also the camaraderie developed when a group of people sweat together to achieve a common goal. Quick Facts: * Founded in 2003 as a community service activity by Tom Cheney, a Milton High School student, the Freedom 5K is now in its 17th year * It's the kick-off event to Milton's Fourth of July celebration * Has grown from 35 participants its first two years to over 125 runners today * 100 percent of the proceeds go to the Milton Track and Cross Country Remembrance Scholarship |
